Scotty Meyer

It is time for Scotty Meyer Sportsmanship Nominations. I have included a description of the Award below. They need to be received by 12-31-19. Please email your Nomination to me at acdog2@yahoo.com. A list of the past winners is on the website under “Club Awards”.

Scotty Meyer Sportsmanship Award. This award honors one special person who has promoted the club and dog sportsmanship. The individual makes a quality contribution to the success of most events sponsored by the club, and is eager to help both the beginner person and the more experienced dog handler. Nominations are accepted in writing by the Chair of the Awards committee. The person receiving the most nominations will be announced by the previous year’s winner at the Annual Awards Banquet.

Thanks,

Terri Hendrix

Children’s Parade

Gem City is parade unit 14.  The staging location is along West Second
street.  We will probably be near the intersection of West Second and
Wilkinson.  Look for a pole with #14 on it and dogs you know.  No need to
check in with parade officials.  Pam Murn will do that for all of Gem City.
The parade happens no matter what the weather is like.  It may rain.  Dress
warmly and festively.  Be in that staging area at 7pm Friday November 29th.
Pam Murn will have a sign in sheet for volunteer hours.  You will be able to
recognize her because she will have a goofy golden retriever with her.
Parking is where ever.  Pam likes to park east of Sinclair College near the
end of the parade route.

Member/Voucher Class Registration

It seems that the new registration forms are set up just a little different from the previous registration forms. If you are struggling to find the “voucher” option or “member” option, they are very similar to last time.

As you can see, you choose that your dog is owned by a member in good standing, and you get a discount off your class, bringing it down to $35 (plus paypal fees). If in the second section you choose “I have a voucher for a free class” Yes or No, to either reduce your rate to free (and bring that voucher to class!) or not.

Hope this helps! Happy registration!!

Eastway boys

We are once again raising money to buy Christmas gifts for the Eastway Boys! If you are new to the club – the Eastway facility is our neighbor. They currently have 22 boys that are living there full time. Gem City members have generously donated money to provide Christmas presents every year since we bought the Northcutt building. I usually post on the Yahoo group but am told that is no longer functioning. If you would like to donate – any amount!! – you can send to me at my office – 2810 Wayne Ave. Dayton OH 45420 – make checks out to GCDOC – or you can give cash to Mary Beam, Terri Hendrix, Cheryl Wolf Stanley or myself (I am not at the club very much but will come if you have money to donate! Eastway will get a wish list from each boy and we try hard to buy as much on those lists as we can afford – and try to spend approx the same amount for each boy. We then will hold a wrapping night – wrap them up and haul them next door to Eastway. This is a wonderful community project for our Club and it means so much to these boys – some who have never received a Christmas gift.

Thank you so much !

Building Closures

A friendly reminder to double check the website event calendar (not just the side bar on the website, but the menu option) prior to driving to the club assuming it’s available for training. With the holidays coming up we have fewer trials, but more non-trial events. Double checking the calendar will save everyone hardship!

Some things that are coming up soon:

November 23 – Santa Fun Day

November 30 – Security system testing
