Remembering Margaret Davidson

Margaret Davidson was a lifetime member and one of the founders of Gem City Dog Obedience Club in 1967.

DAVIDSON (Sauer), Margaret A. Age 90, of Clayton passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Margaret was born on December 29, 1927 to the late John and Blanche Sauer. She was a 1945 graduate of Trotwood-Madison High School. Margaret was a popular Dog Obedience Trial Judge, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor for her service in the Ohio Civil Air Patrol. Margaret is survived by two daughters: Janet (Tom) Jones of Union and Carolyn Davidson of Paradise, California; three grandsons: David and Daniel Jones of Union and Joshua Siegel of Paradise, California; one granddaughter: Deanna Jones of Clayton; and two great-grandsons Ethan and Austin Jones of Clayton. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred Davidson, two daughters Laura and Denise Davidson, and four brothers John, Richard, Robert, and Donald Sauer. Private graveside services will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery in Trotwood. The Kindred Funeral Home in Englewood is assisting the family. AKC Champion at 10 months old.Allie was a born show dog and preferred a career over motherhood, though she did help take care of other mother’s puppies. She loved to play ball, and take walks. In hind sight, I don’t remember her ever doing one thing wrong. Always beautiful, always a princess.

Angel was my beloved service dog and Diabetic Alert Dog. She went with me every where. She loved helping me teach Thursday Morning classes. Loved helping other dogs get over their fear of things. Liked visiting my Mom at the nursing home and visiting all the other people there. She will be greatly missed.

Benson, littermate to Hawkeye, came into our lives as Amanda’s “guard dog” for her residence in Columbus. When she down-sized, he came to live with us at 5 years of age. He quickly became daughter Becca’s dog. She showed him a little in rally and at an agility trial at Gem City. Truly a mellow fellow, he had the better hips- Hawkeye had the brains! He passed away 2 months after Hawkeye.
