Eastway boys

We are once again raising money to buy Christmas gifts for the Eastway Boys! If you are new to the club – the Eastway facility is our neighbor. They currently have 22 boys that are living there full time. Gem City members have generously donated money to provide Christmas presents every year since we bought the Northcutt building. I usually post on the Yahoo group but am told that is no longer functioning. If you would like to donate – any amount!! – you can send to me at my office – 2810 Wayne Ave. Dayton OH 45420 – make checks out to GCDOC – or you can give cash to Mary Beam, Terri Hendrix, Cheryl Wolf Stanley or myself (I am not at the club very much but will come if you have money to donate! Eastway will get a wish list from each boy and we try hard to buy as much on those lists as we can afford – and try to spend approx the same amount for each boy. We then will hold a wrapping night – wrap them up and haul them next door to Eastway. This is a wonderful community project for our Club and it means so much to these boys – some who have never received a Christmas gift.

Thank you so much !

Jennifer Looper , Chase, Kip and Hope!

Building Closures

A friendly reminder to double check the website event calendar (not just the side bar on the website, but the menu option) prior to driving to the club assuming it’s available for training. With the holidays coming up we have fewer trials, but more non-trial events. Double checking the calendar will save everyone hardship!

Some things that are coming up soon:

Upcoming Events!

We have several exciting events in the next couple months that we need your help with!

This weekend’s obedience trial needs ring stewards (mostly sitting jobs with short bursts of standing and walking).

We have our Santa Fun day coming up the weekend before Thanksgiving, and we need bake sale volunteers for it.

We have they Dayton Children’s Day Parade where you can dress yourself and your dog up, and walk in a short parade to celebrate the holidays! Our club has been providing this service for over 40 years!

In December we need a few volunteers to help at the Freestyle trial with things like ring crew and gate crew. Again, mostly sitting jobs with short bursts of walking involved!

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are needed for the UKC Conformation Shows and Rally Trials November 7 and 8. No experience is required. We will teach you what to do. If we don’t get volunteers, we will be forced to cancel. Get a head start on your hours for next year! This DOES count towards Gem City hours!
