Attention members!

Obedience class registration will be open for ONE WEEK ONLY for you to early register as a member.

AFTER THE FIRST WEEK it will be open once again to the general public.

YOU MUST FOLLOW THIS LINK TO REGISTER!
Going to the general website will not work, as I have hidden the registration to give our members first choice.

Important note! If you are using a voucher to pay for the class, you MUST now send your voucher to the registrar to secure your place in the class. The honor system has been taken advantage of, our club needs the money. No longer turning in the voucher is grounds for dismissal from the class and a paying customer taking your place.

The trash clean-up program is continuing through the winter months because apparently the mess is continuing! Note that while we will have twice a month sign-ups,  you may do your pick-up around the first or midpoint of the month. As always, each hour of work yields 2 hours of service to the club. Bring a friend or family member and clean up all 4 sides of the building- they will earn hours for you.

It is time for Scotty Meyer Sportsmanship Nominations. I have included a
description of the Award below. They need to be received by 12-31-20.
Please email your nomination to me at F4stingray@aol.com. They can also be mailed to me at 1152 Bischoff Road, New Carlisle, Ohio 45344. A list of the past winners is on the website under “Club Awards”.

Scotty Meyer Sportsmanship Award. This award honors one special person
who has promoted the club and dog sportsmanship. The individual makes a
quality contribution to the success of most events sponsored by the club,
and is eager to help both the beginner person and the more experienced
dog handler. Nominations are accepted in writing by the Chair of the
Awards committee. The person receiving the most nominations will be
announced by the previous year’s winner at the Annual Awards Banquet.

Gene Bashor was a founding member of Gem City Dog Obedience Club in 1967.

Per his wishes, he is having a private, family only  funeral service due to COVID.  Since we can’t attend the service, I am encouraging friends to send Marcia a little note that expresses sympathy and maybe share some fond memories of Gene.

We have received many inquiries about class tomorrow. Classes are scheduled to continue as planned. Please follow mask and social distancing guidelines. Please do not hang around to socialize with class mates. Enjoy the last class of the session and stay safe over break!

We have decided that in the best interest of those involved in registering you for classes that we are going to delay the start of registration. Watch your email for updates.

Our 2021 Earth Dog tests will be the 29th and 30th of May 2021

I’m working on the AKC applications right now and I’m in need of at
least five members

for the test committer. It will be held a Valley Crest and run from 8:30
AM until probably 3:30 PM

unless we have an exceptionally large turnout. Please reply to

We will be holding a VIRTUAL Membership Meeting on Friday November 6^th, 2020 at 7:30pm. The new GCDOC board members and directors will also be elected at this meeting. The slate of candidates is listed below. We will also be voting on 3 lifetime members: Nancy Beeman, Leah Schiller and Risa Wright.

Obedience Director and Conformation Director are still open.

Also remember dues are due and payable as of 10/31/2020. After that your membership will be considered lapsed and you may no longer take reduced price classes or vote at the membership meetings.
