Last Call for Eastway Christmas 2021!

Last Call for Eastway Boys Home Christmas Donations – Anyone who hasn’t sent their donation or would like to still make a donation.  We have purchased a Foosball Table, games and puzzles for the boys.  They did have one last idea for Indoor Basketball Game for the boys since it is hard to find things for them to do in the winter with being inside so much.  If we get enough money, we will purchase this for them since we are not buying individual gifts for the boys this year.  Thank you to everyone who has donated this year already!!  You can contact me at [email protected].  Terri Hendrix.
Thank you,
Carole, Mary & Terri

Eastway BOys 2021

It’s that time year again we are providing a little Christmas cheer for the Eastway Boys Group Home next to Gem City’s Dog Club Building on Northcutt.  Each year we try to provide some Christmas gifts or a large gift that all the boys can enjoy throughout the year.  We will be accepting donations made out to Gem City Dog Obedience Club.  Sorry we are a little late getting the notice out this year!!  Carol Lenehan, Mary Beam & Terri Hendrix will be organizing this endeavor.

Please contact Terri Hendrix at acdog2@yahoo with your donation amount so we know what to budget for this year.  Thank you.

2021 Children’s Parade Info

Dearest GCDOC members, below is a slightly edited copy from the Special events manager of the Children’s parade. The under lined comments are from me. Find a place to park, streets will be blocked off, make sure you allow time to drive around a bit if necessary. A good place to park is near Sinclair College. Head to West Second Street to find our number (13) on a pole near the curb. The weather is currently predicted to be near freezing, dress warmly. Dress festively. Check in with Pam Murn (accompanied by a Golden Retriever named Scout. Pam will be wearing a red coat). An hour (see notes below) is a long time to wait in the cold, however please do not show up at the last minute, as Pam will not be able to write your name on my clip board as the parade takes off and it is very worrisome when no one is cuing up for the parade to begin. Pam cell 937-838-6042. Sign your name if texting. Email [email protected] please do not email after noon on the day of the parade.

Greetings Gem City Dog Obedience Club-

November 26 is only a few days away and it is time for final details for Parade-Day assembly and participation.

Please note these important planning times:

4:00 PM

  • All staging areas will be closed to general traffic and will be accessible to Parade Entrants only.
  • The Parade Check-In Point will be open for all participants (no need to check in, Pam Murn will check GCDOC in).

7:00 PM

  • All units should be in their proper Parade Position within the staging area (please arrive by 7:30).

7:55 PM

  • The Parade will officially begin as the lead unit moves from Second and Ludlow streets.

And these general points:

Gem City Parade Unit Number is 13

  • A location marker with this number will be set in the staging area to indicate your specific assembly point on West Second St.
  • Because of potential danger to spectators, throwing candy, trinkets, etc. from any parade vehicle is strictly prohibited.
  • Proper unit spacing and parade pace is critical for timing and spectator enjoyment so, voluntarily stopping for formation drills, reverse marching and other demonstrations by bands and drill teams cannot be allowed.

And don’t forget…the Dayton Children’s Parade happens regardless of the weather.

Hope you’re ready to be part of a spectacular evening
