Weather permitting (not raining), the plan is to be at the club on Saturday, August 20th from 8:30 to 10:30 (it is supposed to be around 70F) to do the following:

  1. Clean up excess dirt & rocks along the new blacktop by the parking blocks and along the grass on the north edge of the lot.   I will have a wheel barrow.  Will need people with shovels to load it up and move it.
  2. Prune shrubs and small trees along the back of the lot and on the hill behind the building.  Volunteers will need pruners, gloves.
  3. Scrape off dead or almost dead weeds on the old asphalt in the upper parking lot.  Will need to use some square edged flat shovels and some brooms.  Maybe another wheelbarrow to collect it.
  4. Someone with a pickup to haul the branches next week to the Dayton Green Debris drop off at:
2670 Wagner Ford Rd. during the following week 8:00 to 5:00 Mon – Friday

Contact John Clifford if you have any questions or just show up with tools and gloves.  Will need to sign the volunteer signup list.

Concrete Work

Message from John Clifford.

I just received a text from Houser that they will be starting on the concrete entryway at the club as soon as tomorrow, assuming no rain.  They will be working on one side this week and the other side next week.  We should have access to the lot at all times, one car at a time.  Please be patient if they are working on it when you arrive and afterwards, no driving on the new concrete until the barriers are removed.

Paving UPDATE!!

All-

The parking lot was repaved straight from the entrance up the hill to the rear of the building last Saturday. I have removed the restrictions about driving and parking on the new surface as it should be cooled and “cured” enough to withstand regular traffic.

I would prefer that we not have the trash dumpster emptied (It is only about half full) until next Thursday 7/21 or later to reduce the chances of the heavy truck possibly rutting the asphalt. However, today when I was down there, I went to remove the very large orange cone which was left on the water drain up near the middle of the lot and discovered that the cone was covering the fact that the paving company’s equipment had broken out 4 of the 7 bars (you know the ones that keep you from falling into the sewer) and had not bothered to tell us. So I have blocked off 3 parking spaces and a large area around the hole with tape and barrels and old ring gates. Houser will be replacing it.

If you are parking on the new asphalt for the next week, please be mindful that turning the tires with the vehicle stopped will cause the tires to twist on the new asphalt and could damage it. Please just make sure that the vehicle is moving at least slowly when maneuvering.Additional cleaning of the old asphalt and repainting the parking lines as well as new concrete parking blocks will be done in the near future.
