It is time for Scotty Meyer Sportsmanship Nominations. I have included a description of the Award below. They need to be received by 1-15-2022 Please email the your Nomination to me at [email protected] A list of the past winners is on the website under “Club Awards”.
Scotty Meyer Sportsmanship Award. This award honors one special person who has promoted the club and dog sportsmanship. The individual makes a quality contribution to the success of most events sponsored by the club, and is eager to help both the beginner person and the more experienced dog handler. Nominations are accepted in writing by the Chair of the Awards committee. The person receiving the most nominations will be announced by the previous year’s winner at the Annual Awards Banquet.
Thanks,
Chris Kiefer
New Volunteer opportunities are now available on the website. Please click the link below this email to sign up (no login required to sign up!).
THE #1 thing new applicant members ask about is how to find volunteer opportunities
Are you a trial chair or a volunteer coordinator for an upcoming trial? It’s fast and it’s easy! Previously used sign-up sheets can easily be reused with minimal input from you! Please take the time to contact the webadmin to add your trial to the list! [email protected]

Last Call for Eastway Boys Home Christmas Donations – Anyone who hasn’t sent their donation or would like to still make a donation. We have purchased a Foosball Table, games and puzzles for the boys. They did have one last idea for Indoor Basketball Game for the boys since it is hard to find things for them to do in the winter with being inside so much. If we get enough money, we will purchase this for them since we are not buying individual gifts for the boys this year. Thank you to everyone who has donated this year already!! You can contact me at [email protected]. Terri Hendrix.
Thank you,
Carole, Mary & Terri
Please use caution walking close to the cemetery (Did you know we have a cemetery?!?) at the top of the hill behind our building. There is broken glass that could hurt you or your favorite pet’s paws!
A few volunteers are needed this weekend to help make our small WCRL Rally trial successful!
Friday evening we need help with set-up, we start at 5pm and will go about an hour!
Saturday and Sunday have sign up spots available, too!
Click below to go directly to our sign up sheet!

It’s that time year again we are providing a little Christmas cheer for the Eastway Boys Group Home next to Gem City’s Dog Club Building on Northcutt. Each year we try to provide some Christmas gifts or a large gift that all the boys can enjoy throughout the year. We will be accepting donations made out to Gem City Dog Obedience Club. Sorry we are a little late getting the notice out this year!! Carol Lenehan, Mary Beam & Terri Hendrix will be organizing this endeavor.
Please contact Terri Hendrix at acdog2@yahoo with your donation amount so we know what to budget for this year. Thank you.
Dearest GCDOC members, below is a slightly edited copy from the Special events manager of the Children’s parade. The under lined comments are from me. Find a place to park, streets will be blocked off, make sure you allow time to drive around a bit if necessary. A good place to park is near Sinclair College. Head to West Second Street to find our number (13) on a pole near the curb. The weather is currently predicted to be near freezing, dress warmly. Dress festively. Check in with Pam Murn (accompanied by a Golden Retriever named Scout. Pam will be wearing a red coat). An hour (see notes below) is a long time to wait in the cold, however please do not show up at the last minute, as Pam will not be able to write your name on my clip board as the parade takes off and it is very worrisome when no one is cuing up for the parade to begin. Pam cell 937-838-6042. Sign your name if texting. Email [email protected] please do not email after noon on the day of the parade.
Greetings Gem City Dog Obedience Club-
November 26 is only a few days away and it is time for final details for Parade-Day assembly and participation.
Please note these important planning times:
4:00 PM
7:00 PM
7:55 PM
And these general points:
Gem City Parade Unit Number is 13
And don’t forget…the Dayton Children’s Parade happens regardless of the weather.
Hope you’re ready to be part of a spectacular evening
