| 4 | 5458 | 2025-07-03 13:42:54 | Fair | We have a different situation with Ollie. We were registered for the Thursday morning class but withdrew on recommendations from a behaviorist trainer we are meeting with. He has extreme anxiety and she felt a large class would be too much for him. The we were notified that the Monday night class which was our preference anyway with that set of trainers had had a glitch and was reopened with only four dogs. Everyone agreed that might work for him and we registered. Came to class the first night and things went well. Then I was told that registration was going to open up again as that is a super small class but would only be six dogs max. So we came the next week and there were now ten dogs including Ollie and it was too much for him to handle, Ollie is the third dog I have brought to classes here so they know me. We all decided that removing Ollie from the main right and hanging out in the spare ring might work and that is what we have been doing, It has worked out pretty well and all of the trainers make a point to come over at various times during the class to talk and help work with him. Our goals for him have been to have him gets used to being around other dogs and people, especially men and not to push him past what he can handle. I have gained a lot of valuable tips and he has progressed a lot so we are happy about that. He is already advanced at mastering some things the rest of the class is still learning and he is getting more relaxed in that situation, Had it remained as a four dog class I feel it would have been a lot more beneficial for Ollie, I know he is not going to pass this class and that is okay as any experience has been good for him, but I may not have stayed in the class when it grew much larger the third week, It may have been better to wait until Ollie gets more experience before coming to a structured class. | Outstanding | This is the third dog I have had in classes with Bill, Emily and Jessa. They all have a lot of great tips from different perspectives that have helped me in trying new things with Ollie. | Outstanding | No complaints as the trainers have made accommodations for Ollie and his needs, | Needs Improvement | Most members I have encountered at class time as they are coming or going for agility have been fine, Several have commented that they have seen a huge positive change in Ollie and have been encouraging. as they walk by and they do not allow their dogs to disrupt anything. But... On Monday 6/30 a member...I am assuming she is a member as she had her Beagle over in the agility ring,,,,was leaving when she saw her friend and her friend's dog at the corner of the class ring. One of the trainers was directly talking to the woman whose dog was in the class when this member interrupted and spoke to her friend by walking right over to her friend with her Beagle in tow. The dog who is in the class started barking and lunged, the Beagle started barking and that set off the entire class. There is a shepherd mix who is huge and has been doing so well but he immediately started barking and lunging towards them....he was more than half a ring away thank goodness. The pug near him started lunging at him and wailing wanting to take him on and a doodle in class started wailing very loudly. All of a sudden everyone including my Ollie were barking and lunging and it was very loud. The trainers immediately helped everyone get under control and I had my Ollie clear over in the far corner of the second ring as far removed as possible. It was during the last ten minutes of class which made it even worse for everyone to end on a bad note. These are beginner dogs and most of the owners are beginners as well and this could have been a very dangerous situation, The woman with the Beagle appeared oblivious to the commotion she directly caused and then was showing her friend all the tricks her dog could do! While i wanted to remove Ollie from a stressful situation and she and her Beagle were standing right at the gate I needed to go thru to go out of the building. I feel like this set Ollie back again and it did not do any good for the rest of the dogs in class or their owners, The trainers acted as quickly as they could to get everyone under control and also to end the session with some simple things the dogs had already learned so hopefully that helped those dogs. My Ollie had checked out an at that point he needed to be out of the building. I just think other members should absolutely respect what is going on in class and realize that they have no business interrupting a class or a trainer for any reason. It is a professional situation and should be understood class time is not for socialization with friends. People are paying for class instruction and to have a situation like this happen can set everyone back. When she finally left and I was able to take Ollie outside to go home this member was on the other side of the parking lot and said she was sorry but that her Beagle wouldn't hurt anyone to which I replied my dog has no way of knowing that and that he has some anxiety issues. To which she said something to the effect of oh, well, sorry. I truly think she had zero consciousness that she created an issue. | Outstanding | Zero complaints with the trainers in anything they say or do | Maybe | NO | | Maybe | Yes | Good | classes are not over yet | ALL OF THEM! | 06/30/2025 | Monday at 8pm | Charlene Molnar | chareliz@sbcglobal.net | You can contact me thru email or phone |
| 5 | 5457 | 2025-07-02 12:47:41 | | It's important for a dog to learn obedience commands and be polite socially. One of the benefits of dog school is that the dog learns to focus on the trainer regardless of distractions. They see other dogs but learn polite good manners they don't lunge, bark, or act aggressively. The instructors played games where the dogs walked around other dogs without interacting with them. They learned to meet and greet other people and dogs. Some games let them navigate objects. After class they allowed play time where the dogs felt rewarded and could make friends and have fun playing with good supervised interactions. | | Chris & Roberta were excellent! Thank you to them. They taught all the basic commands, they could identify problems and offer suggestions. If a dog didn't respond they might show another technique for the dog to understand what's expected. They were personable and offered many years of experience. All the dogs did well which means the instructors did a good job. They advised the other classes provided by the club so we'd want to progress and enjoy our future with our dogs. | | I'm so impressed with this dog club. The facilities are impressive - the large building gives room for all the activities where equipment can remain setup so members can come in and practice. There's a good variety of classes that are offered. The people are helpful and friendly. I appreciate getting such valuable help from volunteers. | | I went to a couple showmanships - I've never shown or taken any classes. The other participants seemed to be finished and were working on the finesse of showing. I was very amateur. The instructors were extremely patient and explained how to bring out the best in my dog and what the judge expects. I was very grateful for the advice provided. | | | | | | | | | Beginner | ALL OF THEM! | 05/14/2025 | Wed 10 am | Kris Rantz | krantz@bright.net | Thank you so much.
